Author: Sohail, Saqib Mian

Abstract: The purpose of the research has been to analyze the factors involved in the measurement of productivity at the plant level. The study was undertaken to determine the methods of measurement being used at the plant level and observe the accuracy of the system. This was achieved by conducting case studies at a weaving and apparel manufacturing facility. The results of the case studies have been significant enough to argue the relevance of current productivity measures being used for analysis by the U.S Department of Labor. Some of the factors such as medical costs, picks per shed that have not been considered in current productivity measures should be included to improve the accuracy of the productivity measures.
