Abstract
Stopgap Falls is a screenplay about Caleb Watts, a thirteen year old boy who must overcome his childhood fears, learn to accept the death of his brother, and in the process uncover a dark secret kept well-hidden from an entire town. It is a coming of age story with an eerie Southern Gothic slant, similar at times to films such as Stand by Me.
After his brother's death, strange things start happening to Caleb. While trying to go to sleep one night, Caleb thinks he sees something moving in his brother's closet. His brother's things go missing from his bedroom, and Caleb starts seeing a shadowy figure. Caleb believes these things are all signs from his brother Sam, and he sets out to confront the strange figure. In the process, he finds out what truly lies at the bottom of Stopgap Falls, he learns who the mysterious figure is, and he also learns what truly happened to his brother.
